Founding Partners Bring Extensive Multi-Disciplinary Expertise

W. Anthony (Tony) Forstmann

Mr. Forstmann serves as The Chief Investment Officer and a Portfolio Manager for CANA Partners.

Mr. Forstmann has over 30 years of investment experience having successfully managed significant sums of investor capital over multiple market and economic cycles using a long/short strategy. Tony has deep industry expertise across the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare service and technology industries as well as the consumer and retail sector.

Most recently, he successfully managed a public equity investment portfolio at SECM, a family office. Previously, Mr. Forstmann founded and managed Forstmann Asset Management, raising over $1Bn in assets. In addition, Mr. Forstmann worked for nearly a decade at Forstmann-Leff, a $6B investment firm, managed both public and private equity at Moore Capital Management, a $12B investment firm with notable original investments in Whole Foods Market and Activision and managed all healthcare investments at Level Global, a $5B investment firm. As an influential investor Mr. Forstmann has served on the boards of both public and private companies.

He has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from Yale University.

John R. Cryan

Mr. Cryan serves as a Portfolio Manager, the Head of Research and Chief Compliance Officer for CANA Partners.

Mr. Cryan has over 17 years of investing and advisory experience with an emphasis on shareholder value maximization. Previously, Mr. Cryan was a Portfolio Manager for Fortuna Investors (FI) an SEC registered investment adviser. Prior to FI, he was the founding member of Actuate Capital a specialty research and advisory firm that followed a “value plus catalyst” approach to originate investment opportunities for a select group of preeminent shareholder activist hedge funds.

In addition, Mr. Cryan was a Managing Director and Head of Strategic Equity at EA Markets, Partner & Co-Founder of Fortuna Advisors, Vice President in Credit Suisse’s Investment Bank and a Manager in Accenture’s Finance and Performance Management Group. Mr. Cryan has been a frequent author and speaker on: activism, equity valuation, managing for value, corporate development and turnaround strategies.

He has an MBA from the Kogod School of Business at American University and a Bachelor of Arts from Arcadia University.
